WHAT'S NEXT AFTER JENA? (see Newsticker at top for last minute updates)

10-12-2007-JENA 6 MYCHAL BELL SENTENCED
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

The young teenager at the center of one of the largest Civil Rights rally’s in U.S. history, is back in jail.  Mychal Bell was sentenced to 18 months in jail on 2 counts of simple battery and 2 counts of criminal destruction of property, charges incurred prior to the incident that sparked the mass protest in Jena, Louisiana on September 20 this year.

La Salle Parish Louisiana District Judge J. P. Mauffrey indicated that he desired Mychal Bell back into jail, when Bell was handcuffed as he appeared for a hearing on October 2, charging Bell had broken probation by participating in a fight on December 4, 2006.  Most Black citizens and other observers note this teenage fight was spurred by noose incidents at their high school during the preceding months.  On October 2, Bell’s parents had to post an additional $5,000 bond.

RITUAL LEGACIES

A Griot Session with Dr. Patricia Gay

As children of humanity, children of Africa, children of God or whatever we conceive It to be, we have an inner knowingness of how to obtain truth, at least enough so to help us through each day.   And we have among us students of practices that help us to heal…

Pat is a psychologist and the granddaughter of a Southern conjure woman who worked with a spider spirit guide.  Learning the art and practice of divination, ritual, and conjuring at her grandmother’s feet, she watched miraculous healing and heard nature speak.  She began conjuring as a child, and has been a healer for decades. Pat has also studied with Malidoma Somé, a Shaman from Burkina Faso, West Africa.

“As a child I learned to listen to nature spirits, animate and inanimate, and to be guided by their deep love, desire to guide, and powerful potential to make lasting change.  I knew intuitively that the entire universe was alive, communicating, and that I was apart of this divine, pulsating, beautiful web with the Divine.  And because I had not been trained differently as a child, it was easy for me to trust my authentic indigenous African soul and hear the call of God and the sweet voices of my ancestors.  As a result, it was natural to accept sacred communication and guidance from the natural and spiritual realms.  I was called as a young child to hear and to heal, to see and to serve.”

Pat offers spiritual practices that are grounded in ancient African spiritual tradition and heritage, yet designed for healing and guidance in the modern world.

Finally, Dr. Pat Gay, hits the airwaves on KPFK.  This is a special beginning…  JOIN US ON “GRIOT SESSIONS”, as we air an Inaugural Program showcasing the wisdom and deeds of a people…

Back to Its Source by Hoang Vinh

One step further and bringing thousand of ideas

I stop and say to myself

How anybody could know mist is all over my soul

I've made misstep and am getting lost

And hope is at birth

The sky is high and the sea immensely misty

My intentions are to erase the shadows

But ephemeral illusions are all unreal

I'll have to come back to my initial reality.
